Hi, everybody. I’m Mike Staver. This is Mondays with Mike, a weekly video series where I answer questions from people just like you. Here’s this week’s question.
“What are some ways to overcome imposter syndrome and build self-confidence?”
There are three ways.
The first way is accept the fact that most people have imposter syndrome in some area their life, and if they don’t, they probably got a little narcissism running around. Most of us from time to time go, and I do. I got some issues right. That’s healthy self-confidence comes from only one thing that’s doing the things you’re not confident doing until you get good enough to start feeling confident. It’s not like a cloud that drifts in off the ocean. Right. So the first thing you have to do is accept that people have imposter syndrome and lack self-confidence sometimes.
The second thing you’ve got to do is you’ve got to get out there and do the things you’re not confident in and develop some competence. So that confidence comes next.
And then the third thing you have to do is that you have to think your way through the circumstances right. Sometimes you have to act as if sometimes you have to be fully present in it so that you can start to feel legit and authentic in what you do. That’s a critical piece of it.
Do those three things and I think it’ll help you a lot with imposter syndrome and developing self confidence.
Hope that was helpful.
