Hi, everybody. I’m Mike Staver. This is Mondays with Mike, a weekly video series where I answer questions from people just like you. I’m excited once again to have my producer Marty in the house today. He’s going to be working with me on this question. I always love it when Marty’s here and has the time to work with us.
“If you could learn any skill, if you could learn any skill overnight, what would it be? Why do you think people so often ignore desire or dream?”
Let’s do questions.
What skill would you learn overnight?
I would probably…Any kind of computer science or coding would probably be would be my number one.
Yeah. Mine would be play the piano. If I could learn a skill overnight, I think I would learn to play the piano. I mean, would it be nice you could come home, you could sit, you could play a little tune. I think that’d be really relaxing.
So why do you think people ignore their dreams or their desires?
I mean, I haven’t. I learned to play the piano. I mean, you learned to do code. Why do people know what they like to learn overnight? But they don’t do it?
Because I think as soon as you have that thought right, your brain naturally is like, Oh, well, I can’t do this because X, Y, or Z, and you kind of buy into that story over time, you know?
Yeah. So it’s like a it’s like, Yeah, why would I do it? I’m so busy.
Plus we live in an overnight culture, you know, the question was, you know, if you could learn any skill overnight, what would it be?
Well, if I could learn piano overnight, I’d do it. But if I had to learn piano over five years. Mm.
Yeah, that’s true. Do it right.
I think that’s often people ignore a desire or a dream either because of what you just said. Which is I don’t know if I can accomplish it. I don’t know if it really happened or I mean, it’s just so much work.
What’s that phrase? Sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.
Yeah, I think it’s sad, though. I think there are a lot of people out there who do not often go after their desires or dreams, and they just sort of live a life in a box that can be difficult.
So that’s I hope that was helpful.
I don’t know that it was, but, you know, help me and Marty, because now we know what our dreams are that we haven’t really figured out yet. Right. We haven’t really done it. But I do want to encourage you, if you have a desire, a dream, at least put your toe in the water, right?
I want to be a fighter pilot. When I was a kid, I took flying lessons, I didn’t become a fighter pilot. But I took flying lessons. Get out there and at least give it a shot. Right. A lot of people sit on the sidelines and they don’t give their desires or dreams a shot.
Thanks, Marty. Great to chat with you.
