Hi, everybody. I’m Mike Staver.
Happy New Year. Can you believe it?
I remember when I was a kid, I used to sit around my friends at the lunch tables and say “Can you imagine the year 2000? What do you think the world will be like?” I can’t imagine the year 2000 now 23 years later. That’s just unbelievable. Well, Happy New Year.
Gallup says that the average American stays committed to their New Year’s resolutions for only six weeks now. I don’t know where in the world you’re watching Mondays with Mike, but my guess it’s not any better in the country that you live in either. And here’s why – because we tend to have big intentions and little execution.
So here’s my wish for you for the new year. My wish for you is that you pick a word and that you lock into that world and that you just focus on execution. I would rather you pick little small things than say “I’m going to run a marathon” and then lay on the couch and not even crawl to your refrigerator. I would rather you say “I’m going to start living a healthier lifestyle” than say “I’m just going to cold turkey quit smoking.”
I want you to look at things in a way that manifests progress. Let’s make that our mantra going into the New Year. Manifesting progress just simply means there is something I want to do, something, some place I want to move toward, and I’m going to do that in an incremental way.
So Happy New Year. Celebrate big. Be safe out there, be very careful. That’s kind of a dangerous night of the year. But focus on the small little things you can accomplish to move your life in the direction that you’d like for it to go. Happy New Year, take care.
