Hi, everybody. I’m Mike Staver. This is Mondays with Mike, a weekly video series where I answer questions from people just like you. Here’s this week’s question.
“You often say ‘be where your feet are.’ What does that mean and what is the best way to do that?”
Mike: Well, be where your feet are. It means being fully present. It means not being on your device. It means not looking downstream. It means not being distracted by things that are less important.
But it’s hard for us, isn’t it?
Marty: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Especially, you know, with all of the media that we’re bombarded
with on a constant basis all day long, it’s hard to really be present in the moment, yeah.
Mike: Because we’re constantly being drug off somewhere or something, tapping us on the shoulder. And I don’t know, I think everybody’s been conditioned to have some level of A.D.D. these days, don’t you?
Marty: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Mike: How do you stay fully present?
Marty: Honestly, I try high in the morning. It’s all about how I start my day. I like to kick it off. I try and meditate for about a half hour. And just try and really connect with my day. And in terms of what I’ve got going on and just try and practice gratitude in the morning as well. Yeah. And kind of just get your mind straight, you know, at the beginning of the day and try and carry that energy throughout.
Mike: This is so good. I think morning rituals are critical. So if you want to be fully where your feet are, if you want to be fully dialed in, you’ve got to start your day right? I love what you said, Marty, about gratitude, a little bit of meditation. But and, you know, another thing that’s really important, at least in my world, is being still finding moments in my life to be still where I’m not distracted by a device, I’m not watching TV, I’m not in a conversation. I’m just fully still. Your mind needs a break. If you just ran up and down stairs all day, you’d find yourself in a little bit of trouble.
Thank you, Marty, for your help.
I hope that’s helpful!
